FSM strengthens links with International Organisation for Migration

The Federated States of Micronesia is set for further cooperation with the International Organisation for Migration following the signing of a ‘host agreement’.

FSM Secretary of Foreign Affairs Samson Pretrick says he is looking forward to the ongoing partnership between the FSM and IOM and commented on the importance of the agreement in light of FSM’s new membership status. Future areas of cooperation are likely to include climate change adaptation, countering human-trafficking, and immigration and border management

The agreement acknowledges IOM’s assistance already provided to the FSM, particularly in the areas of disaster preparedness and assisted voluntary returns.
