Taiwan releases annual grant to Marshall Islands

Ambassador George T.K. Li of the Republic of China (Taiwan) presented a US$2,750,000 cheque to Marshall Islands finance minister, Dennis Momotaro this week.

The amount is the third quarter (July-September) of Year 2011 Annual Grant from the Republic of China (Taiwan) to the RMI Government. Amongst other items, it will fund:general budgetary support, an Outer-Island Runway Renovation, Rural Development Programs, an Infrastructure Capital Maintenance Fund, the Marshall Islands Visitors Authority, Laura Dock and Micronesia Legal Services.

At the presentation ceremony, Ambassador Li reiterated the ROC (Taiwan) Government’s commitment to the partnership with Marshall Islands, emphasing that the core value of the partnership is progressive and sustainable developments.
