Indonesian diplomat criticises Faleomavaega’s position on Papua

An Indonesian diplomat based in London has criticised American Samoan Representative, Congressman Eni F. H. Faleomavaega’s recent statements on Papua.

Puguh Sadadi writes in the Jakarta Post that Faleomavaega’s statements are “full of emotion but short on facts.”

Sadadi takes issue with Faleomavaega’s use of the name ‘West Papua’ .He also says the Congressman’s claims that on Oct. 19, “Indonesian security forces opened fire” on so-called “West Papuans”, killing “at least three”, who had gathered at the third Papuan People’s Congress cannot be substantiated, or be regarded as systematic abuse.
