Pacific Green advocates ‘Fiji Centres’

Pacific Green co-founder, Peter Ryan, says Fiji should establish ‘Fiji Centres’ as a way to promote the country’s exports, reports Islands Business magazine.

Pacific Green makes high end furniture from senile palm trees and was recently selected to supply architectural products for a ‘green city’ under construction in Dubai.

“I love the way Fiji is opening up embassies in Jakarta, South Africa, Brazil but what you actually need to do is have a Fiji Center,” says Ryan.

“It’s a good way to show people what you have. Put the trade commissioners there, put Air Pacific there, put the different things you have there and have a center for activity where every Friday night you can have a meke or cultural items that people can come in and see what Fiji is and what it has,” Ryan added.

Pacific Green is currently building a new factory in Sigatoka, Fiji and an educational Ecological Park.

The company wants the Fiji government to grant it export incentives to allow it to source palmwood from Fiji to its factory in China where its furniture are assembled.
