Flood waters to continue to rise in Bangkok

One fifth of Bangkok is now under water the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) said on Thursday.

The Bangkok Post reports that the administration has also issued fresh warnings for residents to evacuate areas threatened by the flood.

BMA spokesman Jate Sopitpongstorn says there are 11,000 evacuees living in temporary shelters across the city.

Central Bangkok remains dry, but some northern and western parts have been submerged in dirty water that is waist-deep or higher in places.
