Fiji-Shanghai flights mooted

Fiji is exploring possible direct air links with Shanghai.

The Deputy General Director of the Pudong New Area Government, Jiang Huguang has told the Fiji Sun that expanding air links would reinforce the growing ties between China and Fiji.

Pudong is the home of Shanghai’s international airport.

Huguang says the links could boost trade and tourism.

“Less Chinese tourists are coming to these beautiful islands because we do not have direct flights.”

He says there is support within the Chinese Government for the move.

Fiji’s Air Pacific currently flies Nadi-Hong Kong.
