Court rules Somare has lost seat-but he will appeal

Former Papua New Guinea Prime Minister,  Sir Michael Somare, has lost his bid to keep his seat in parliament. The National Court ruled against his application for an injunction yesterday.

The judge [recommended] the Supreme Court is the best court to decide on the issue. Sir Michael was removed after missing three sittings of parliament, although he continues to dispute this.

Sir Michael is due to return from Singapore this weekend.
