Former Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare is back in Singapore for a medical check-up.
Sir Michael underwent three major heart operations over the past several months. His absence from PNG and parliament as a result, led to his disqualification from Parliament, and removal as Prime Minister.
However Sir Michael is challenging this decision, and explained why in an independence day address to Papua New Guineans today.
The PNG Post Courier reports a Somare family member as saying the length of Sir Michael’s stay in Singapore will be decided by the medical team based on the results of his check-up.
