China will support islands on climate change concerns

China wants to strengthen cooperation with Pacific island countries on climate change concerns says Vice Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai.

Cui has told Xinhua at the 42nd Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting post-Forum dialogue that, “the Pacific is not a barrier between China and the island countries, but a bond between them. As a developing country, China has common issues and difficulties with PICs in many aspects.’

He says China is willing to provide more assistance within its capacity to areas such as developing clean and renewable energy and tourism.
