The Lowy Institute is hosting a conference ‘Pacific Islands and the World Conference: Realising the Pacific’s Potential’ in the lead-up to the Pacific Island Forum leaders’ meeting in Auckland next week.
The conference is focused on discussing examples of best practice in global development.
The Lowy Institute writes, ‘the conference will consider how to convert returns from the region’s natural resources, including mineral, oil and gas deposits as well as fisheries and forestry sectors, into better living standards…
‘It will explore how innovation can extend the promise of the tourism industry; and how the peoples of the Pacific Islands, Australia and New Zealand can further realise their potential through good leadership, access to migration, use of new technologies and increased regional and international integration.
