Business news from the Indonesian media this week:

  • If Indonesia meets its US$200 billion export target this year, it will be the 21st country in the world to do so, and will have doubled the value of its exports in just five years. (Jakarta Post)
  • The Indonesian Government plans to grant tax holidays in major sectors to companies investing at least RP1 trillion (US$117 million). The tax holiday will apply to companies operating in base metals, oil refining, petrochemicals, renewable energy, machinery, and telecommunications. (Jakarta Globe)
  • Reuters reports on ‘How Indonesia Managed to Kill Its First REDD project” through “labyrinthine bureaucracy, opaque laws and a secretive palm oil company.”
